Simple and unpretentious, it's a favorite with older patrons looking to unwind at the wine bar as well as families with little children who want to enjoy a comforting dish of spaghetti carbonara.
There's a limited-edition truffle menu available throughout the holidays. Try the slightly opulent Wagyu beef cheese steak paired with Italian winter truffle and foie gras.
Matsuhisa: Exquisite, globally inspired Japanese dining
The existence of chef Matsuhisa's restaurants has come to define a city's level of poshness in the contemporary dining scene. (Some of the cities where their branches are located are New York, London, Paris, LA, and Dubai.) This also applies to the Vail location. It has a view of the mountains and is located in the heart of Vail Village. Despite the exorbitant prices, the place has a cozy and welcoming vibe.
Their tempura meals and rolls are always a hit. (They are adept at properly frying anything—shrimp, kabocha, avocado, etc.) A few signature dishes to sample Chef Matsuhisa's inventiveness are black cod with sweet miso.
Miller & Lux: The best steak in town is at Miller & Lux.
A recent addition to Vail's eclectic eating scene is Miller & Lux. Tyler Florence, a celebrity chef and longtime Food Network show host, is the owner of this posh new steakhouse that has replaced Flame Restaurant. It is housed in the opulent Four Seasons Resort.
The supper menu at this Vail location is more alpine-focused with robust meals, but it also includes the chef's signature dishes from his San Francisco original restaurant, like the M&L burger, dry-aged steaks, French Dover sole, and 46-ounce tomahawk ribeye.
Dom Pérignon by the glass and a selection of housemade drinks are available for après ski from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.
